What are Matchbox Roaches®?

Matchbox Roaches® are premium ultra slim 4mm pre-rolled filter tips designed for smoother, cleaner and more consistent rolls. Inspired by traditional cone-shaped rolling styles, Matchbox Roaches® are designed to mimic the feel of a no-roach roll while adding structure, convenience and consistency.

How many tips are in a pack?

Each Matchbox Roaches® pack contains 32 premium pre-rolled filter tips.

Matchbox Roaches® intentionally chose 32 because it matches the amount of papers found in most standard rolling paper booklets such as RAW, Rizla, OCB and Elements, giving smokers a complete rolling setup from one pack to the next.

What size are the tips?

Matchbox Roaches® tips have a 4mm outer diameter and are 17mm in length.

This makes Matchbox Roaches® one of the smallest pre-rolled filter tips available on the market.

Why are Matchbox Roaches® considered ultra slim?

Most pre-rolled filter tips on the market start at around 5mm and are already considered “slim”.

Matchbox Roaches® were engineered at 4mm, creating a genuinely ultra slim rolling tip designed to stay closer to the airflow and feel of a traditional no-roach roll.

Creating Matchbox Roaches® at this size required precise construction and consistent shaping to maintain airflow, structure and usability.

Why is the 4mm size better?

The smaller diameter used in Matchbox Roaches® changes the smoking experience completely.

Based on airflow research, combustion behaviour and rolling geometry, smaller tips naturally help create cone-shaped rolls rather than straight cylindrical rolls.

Cone-shaped joints are widely preferred because they can provide smoother airflow, more controlled draw resistance, steadier burn progression, less harsh smoke delivery, and a more gradual smoking experience.

Larger tips can sometimes create a more open airflow path, leading to faster smoke delivery and harsher draws.

I don’t usually use tips or roaches. Why would I use Matchbox Roaches®?

Many traditional smokers historically rolled without tips altogether, particularly in parts of the Caribbean and Jamaica where cone-shaped no-roach rolls remain culturally influential.

Matchbox Roaches® were specifically designed to stay as close as possible to that experience while improving consistency and structure.

Can I still roll big joints with Matchbox Roaches®?

Yes.

The size of the tip does not limit the size of the roll itself.

Matchbox Roaches® are constructed and glued using natural food-grade gum, so that they provide a stable base that allows smokers to roll both slim and large cone-shaped joints without the tip collapsing, pinching or deforming.

Many smokers actually find larger joints easier to roll using Matchbox Roaches® because the cone shape forms more naturally.

I usually prefer larger filter tips!

A larger tip does not automatically mean a better smoking experience.

Matchbox Roaches® are engineered with balanced airflow in mind, the 4mm size still provides a strong airflow, comfortable smoke volume, while allowing for steady combustion throughout your joint.

Larger tips can sometimes create "excessive openness" which ultimately results in harshness in taste.

Why did you create Matchbox Roaches®?

Matchbox Roaches® was originally created for the UK rolling styles. It also came from a commonly shared frustration: ripping apart Rizla packs and making inconsistent roaches. We knew there had to be a better way.

During our research, we carried out extensive market research, gave out samples, and worked closely with our community to gather real feedback. Through that process, we developed a size, structure, specification and packaging design that we believed would be most appealing and needed within the UK rolling community.

We came across many pre-rolled filter tips available, but most were simply too large for the UK connoisseur looking for the smoother, more controlled experience that Matchbox Roaches® wanted to create.

That’s why Matchbox Roaches® developed a modern ultra slim pre-rolled tip designed to stay as close as possible to the traditional smoking experience.
